DTMF stands for Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency.

In layman terms, DTMF is the phone digits we use to dial numbers. DTMF signaling can happen in-band (within the voice of a session itself) or out-of-band (in external signaling and not as part of the voice session).

WebRTC allows sending DTMF events as part of the RTP packets.
