There are insights to be gleaned out of Mary Meeker (of KPCB) Internet Trends report when it comes to WebRTC. This is exactly what I tried doing, focusing on how these trends impact those who wish to build use cases with WebRTC.
The metrics used by WebRTC PaaS and Cloud Communication API providers need to change. Number of registered developers is mostly meaningless – there is a need to shift towards metrics that offer more clue to the engagement of these platforms.
WebRTC enables new use cases for video in education. We are no longer confined to the class room with a video room system. Things become more personal, and fit for purpose to solve real world problems.
Set top boxes may be running WebKit, but they aren’t going to need WebRTC for your living room anytime soon. The main use case of video chat with others is a hard nut to crack in the living room environment.
